The stage has been set for the second edition of Ghana Meets Naija Concert as organizers, Empire Entertainment, have announced a long list of Ghanaian and Nigerian music icons to be part of the show.

This year’s show is scheduled for June 30 at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

On Wednesday, the show was launched at the Golden Tulip Hotel with guests including president of Empire Entertainment, Bola Ray, popular actress Yvonne Nelson, publisher of Ovation Magazine chief Dele Momodu and Fashion 101 host Sandra Ankobia.

Provisional list of artistes to perform announced at the launching ceremony included Nigeria’s MI, Brymo, and Nigeria’s music latest sensation Davido, who has built a large fanbase with his single ‘Dami Duro’ and sassy Tiwa Savage from Don Jazzy’s Mavin Record.

From Ghana would be 4×4, sensational female dancehall songstress Kaakie, R2bees, Guru, Buk Bak, Kwaw Kese, Keche, and a long list of other artistes which would be made public soon.

Davido, Brymo, Kwaw Kese, Guru, and Buk Bak, at the launch told music fans to warm up for a thrilling night.

Empire Entertainment boss Bola Ray told journalists that this year’s event was going to be an entertainment package. He also congratulated the media and sponsors for believing in Empire Entertainment and supporting the show.

Last year’s Ghana Meet Naija concert was described as unprecedented. It had more patronage than any event on the entertainment calendar last year.

On stage at that event were VIP, 2face, J-Martins, 9ice, Sarkodie, 4×4, Ruff n Smooth, Guru and a host of others. A number of last year’s performers are missing on the list.

But the current list is provisional and it is likely some other artistes will be added to it.

This year’s edition is being sponsored by MTN with support from rLG, MOET & CHANDON, Henessey, and PHC Motors.

In July and October, Ghana Meets Naija concert will be organized in UK and Nigeria respectively.

DKB

Prezzo really needs to step away from the bottle. First, a stab at Barbz and now, this!

After helping himself to one too many drinks, the Kenyan Starmate staggered into the kitchen and hurled all sorts of abuse at DKB.

Prezzo blamed DKB for causing the rift that persists between he and his “lady”, Goldie.

According to Prezzo, Goldie stopped talking to him after a conversation with DKB.

During the fight, Prezzo boasted about his mansion back home and told him “I’ll kill you.

I’ll add more scars to your face”. He slurred through the battle, encouraging DKB to slap him.

DKB tried to remain calm but after seeing he was fighting a losing battle, gave as much as he was being given.

“We can count on you to act like a retard every time you drink. You need rehab,” he said.

The two threw verbal jabs at each other for close to an hour, with Prezzo spitting intermittently.

When things started getting too heated, Goldie attempted to step in. Prezzo broke free and acted out some more, until Big Brother called him to the Diary Room. What is going on with this guy?

Award-winning gospel singer Diana Hamilton on Wednesday officially launched her “Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour for 2012 Elections.”

“The tour is expected to take me throughout the country to educate Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians about the essence of peace in this upcoming election and contribute my quota to ensure that Ghana continues to enjoy peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the 2012 general elections,” Diana noted at the media launch held in Accra.

According to Diana, one of the fundamental objectives of this tour was to “replace the mere rhetoric of peace by certain personalities in Ghana with action-backed words through signing of the ‘Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour For 2012 Elections’ forms.”

The tour will start from Accra and will be replicated in all ten regions of Ghana.

Dina will be leading a delegation, comprising representatives from each of the region during the tour. It would also include gospel music concerts.

“I will lead the delegation to present “Diana Hamilton Peace Endorsement Tour For 2012 Elections” forms to the various political leaders, especially presidential candidates, religious and traditional leaders, youth groups, media houses, corporate and educational institutions etc for them to endorse them (forms) to demonstrate their commitment towards peaceful elections this year,” she added.

“Although elections are about making choices between various political and ideological leanings and not violent confrontations, since Ghana returned to multi-party democracy in 1992, you will bear with me that virtually no election has been conducted without incidence of violence and intimidation at one point or the other.

“The unfortunate events in 2008 elections in some parts of the country should remind all of us of the need to reject and condemn all acts of lawlessness, politics of insults, intimidation and banditry and preach peace before, during and after 2012 elections.

It is obvious that this trend of political violence is a threat to Ghana’s democracy and stability and can erode the political, social, cultural and economic gains the country has chalked over the years.

“I cannot sit and watch quietly for this trend to continue to the 2012 elections.

I must do something and you must also do something to save our organisations, friends, love ones, children, fathers and mothers.

So what should we do?  To avert such unfortunate historical antecedent or reduce them to the barest minimum, as winner of Best Artiste Europe at the Africa Gospel Awards 2011 and one of Ghana’s gospel musicians, I have decided to embark on a nationwide peace endorsement tour from today 16^th May, 2012-7^th January, 2013,” she disclosed.

Aki and Wife

Nollywood star actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has stepped up big time, according to Nollywood media.

In a month, the talented actor added two new autos to his garage; a brand new Infiniti jeep FX and Honda Accord (Special Edition) for his lovely wife, Nneoma.

To add to all the good things happening to the Umuahia, Abia born role interpreter and entrepreneur, he has also told those who care to listen he is tired of being a tenant and would soon pack out of his Omole Phase 1, Lagos apartment.

Nigeriafilms.com reported that the pint sized actor’s multi-million naira mansion was near completion.

The website’s findings also revealed that the house project, which actually started a few months ago, had scored 75 percent progress.

“If things work out well, the actor plans to move into the house before the end of this year,” sources added.

Chinedu Ikedieze was last in the news for somehow displaying his wedding ring to the cameras at the last African Academy Awards (AMAA) in Lagos, Nigeria.

He popped up on AMAA red carpet looking smart. He wore a pair of grey-coloured trousers, a white shirt and a black blazer which matched with his black shoes. He completed the look with a grey cap.

He told NEWS-ONE that he was at the ceremony to have fun and enjoy himself.

He said AMAA was good a platform for African films.

“AMAA is very a good platform for Africa and we must support it.

As you can see, I am very happy to be here, seeing all my friends in the industry. Tell my Ghanaian fans I love them all,” he added.

Chika Ike

Nigeriafilms.com reported that top sexy actress Chika Ike has flown her dad to India for a surgery in order to save his life.

But the website failed to give more details about the ailment her dad was suffering from, hence the surgery.

However, the website’s source confirmed that her dad had finally undergone the operation and was recovering.

Chika was accompanied by her mum and manager to India with her father.

There are indications that the UN ambassador would organise a thanksgiving service immediately she returns to Nigeria with her family.

The sultry actress recently gave one of her fans a celebrity treatment in Enugu.

According to information, an Abia State-based undergraduate named Amaka Ifejiagwa became her first fan of the month.

Chika, who is full of ideas, said the initiative was a way of appreciating her teeming fans across the country.

The April fan of the month winner, Amaka, had an all expense paid trip from Abia State to Enugu, where she met with Chika.

Lydia Forson

Stars actress Lydia Forson returned home on Tuesday after over a week’s stay in Liberia where she shot her latest movie with some of the crème de la crème actors in Africa’s movie industry.

The bubbly actress left Ghana on Saturday May 5 to join the host of other poplar actors from selected African countries on her new project.

It was her first time working in Liberia and she spent over a week there.

NEWS-ONE sources earlier mentioned Nollywood’s Desmond Elliot; Ivie Okujaye, AMAA 2012 Promising Actor; Bobby Obodo, a Canadian-based Nigerian, Morris K. Sesay from Sierra Leon and some Liberian actors as some of the stars on the project.

NEWS-ONE is yet to contact her and find out what went down in Liberia and talk about the production.

Lydia is one remarkable actress to have come out of Ghana, as she has passion for what she does on the screens.

Since last year, she has been traveling out of Ghana for different projects. This year, she was at the African Movie Academy Awards as a special guest.

Lydia recently celebrated her mother’s 60^th birthday. Prior to that, her fourth appearance at the prestigious African Movie Academy Awards in Nigeria was the subject of discussion.

The bubbly actress presented an award for Best Young/Upcoming Actor category to Nigeria’s Ivie Okujaye who won for her role in the movie ‘Alero’s Symphony’.

Lydia raised the flag of Ghana high on stage that night. Her first AMAA appearance was in 2009 when she was nominated for Promising Actress of the Year.

In 2010, she went as a nominee and fortunately returned to Ghana as a co-winner of Best Actress In Leading Role for her performance in ‘Perfect Picture’ by Sparrow Production.

Amanda and Bright

Bright of Buk Bak fame has refused to confirm or deny rumours linking him with Amanda Jissih, presenter of GH One’s Entertainment programme, E-Talk.

Efforts to get him to comment on Wednesday proved futile when he told NEWS-ONE, “rumours are rumours, and people should keep talking.”

He refused to answer further questions put to him. Amanda would also not talk about the rumours.

Bright was one of the top musicians who graced the launching of Empire Entertainment’s Ghana Meets Naija concert.

After the show, NEWS-ONE’s correspondent approached him to find out the truth about the rumour but upon hearing the topic, Bright’s posture changed. He was not ready for further questions.

It is very difficult to conclude what relationship the two are enjoying but Amanda is known for her good relationship with most musicians including Nigerian stars.

She has played an influential role in Buk Bak’s return after what was described as a long hiatus.

She was seen with the group several times directing its media plans when the group released its ‘Kolom’ hit song.

But it is unclear why people are linking Amanda to Bright.

Chris Attoh

Actor cum MC Chris Attoh yesterday May 17 added a year to his life.

He has since been receiving tons of congratulatory messages from his fans and friends both at home and outside of the country.

NEWS-ONE wishes him a happy birthday and prays that God continues to grant him long life to continue his good job on the screens.

It is not clear how he celebrated the day but strong indications were that he thanked the Almighty for granting him life to enter another year.

He is yet to announce if there will be a birthday bash to celebrate with his celebrity friends.

Chris is one of Ghana’s hottest TV stars and actors.

He is making a comeback on the silver-screens with a topnotch role alongside popular actresses Yvonne Nelson and Nadia Buari in a new movie titled, ‘Single & Married’.

He finished shooting on Monday and indications were that he was jetting out of the country that evening.

Yaa Pono

Students in tertiary schools will have a mouthpiece on radio today Friday, May 18, 2012.

Rising hot musician Solomon Adu Antwi, popularly known as Yaa Pono, will be hosting a number of tertiary students from different tertiary institutions in the country dubbed ‘Tertiary Talk’ on Xfm 95.1 on the station’s morning show, ‘The Big Bite’.

‘Tertiary Talk’ is aimed at getting students to put forward their numerous concerns to the right quarters.

Yaa Pono has been connected to radio and ‘The Big Bite’ for some time now and has already discussed issues concerning work as an underground music artiste, poor patronization of made-in Ghana products and other catchy topics.

The ‘Uptown Energy’ Tema-based rap star, who is signed on to Pidgin Music Records, is believed to be the King Kong when it comes to freestyle rap in Ghana, because his style of rap depicts Ghana’s version of Eminem or Jin.

He has a good lyrical dexterity and employs more than a single language in his rap style to catch the attention of his fans; hence he has become a household name with tracks like ‘Good Morning’ featuring Efya, ‘Mmoasem’, ‘1 Perma’ and so much more.

Yaa Pono can make a rap out of nothing; throw him an object and he will come out with a good punch line around it.

His rap style has some elements of uniqueness which he also portrays on his show on radio.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye

www.news2.onlinenigeria.com reported Thursday evening that Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye had been asked to step down as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)

The report alleged that about 20 pastors from the branches of the church in Europe met with the revered man of God in his international office at Redemption Camp, KM 46, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ogun State, to advise him to resign so that a younger pastor could be appointed to head the church.

The reason given by these ambitious men of God was that since Pastor Adeboye has clocked 70 years, so it was normal for him, according to what obtained in the church, to retire.

The pastors cited the case of the four Assistant General Overseers of the church, Pastors M.O. Ojo, Ilori, Aderibigbe and D. Ojo, whose retirements were announced at the conclusion of Minister Conference on Sunday, August 8, 2010.

Investigation by us, however, revealed that Pastor Adeboye could not retire from the position of the General Overseer of the church yet, as the position is not political.

A leading member of the church who spoke with us this morning said it is God who will nominate the successor to the office when the time comes.

Our source, who did not want his name mentioned, said further, “the founder of the church, Pa Josiah Oluwafemi Akindayomi, did not appoint a successor because he was 70; rather, the successor, Pastor Adejare Adeboye was appointed when the time came for him, the founder, to go and meet with the Lord.”

A pastor of the church (name withheld) wondered how some people could be thinking that way, “when all of us are seriously praying to God to grant our father (Pastor Adeboye) long life, good health and strength to continue the good work he’s doing for the Lord.”

He further said the position of the General Overseer of the Church is not for the highest bidder or the most erudite pastor; rather, it is God who will appoint the most qualified pastor when it is time.

Pastor Adeboye had told his faithful in one of the services not too long ago that his successor is still in drinking joint, that is, the fellow is yet to give his life to Christ or he is still a baby Christian.
